چکیده
A comparative SEM study of palp sensory surfaces in 25 caddisfly species representing seven families reveals types sensilla: long trichoid, blunt chaetoid, campaniform, mushroom-like pseudoplacoid, petaloid, thick basiconic and thin sensilla. Long trichoid chaetoid sensilla are present on all segments both pairs palps. First second maxillary palps bear groups sclerotised their medial surface. Other labial have shorter thinner mainly ventromedial surfaces. Campaniform usually occur the first segment Mushroom-like pseudoplacoid may occupy or only distal ones. Petaloid form fields apical most studied species. Thick complexes tips comparison with Lepidoptera suggests similarity conservative evolution The reconstructed ground plan for Trichoptera Amphiesmenoptera is provided.

Sensilla of the antenna and palp of Hydrotaea chalcogaster (Diptera: Muscidae).
Hydrotaea chalcogaster is a fly species of medical and forensic importance in many parts of the world. In this study, we investigated the sensilla of the antenna and palp of the adult female fly using scanning electron microscopy. The antennal scape has one type of sensillum, the sharp-tipped sensillum trichodeum; whereas, the antennal pedicel also possessed this type of sensillum in addition t...
متن کاملMorphological characteristics of sensilla on the female ovipositor of Lype phaeopa (Psychomyiidae; Trichoptera)
An important aspect of the association of Lype phaeopa (Stephens) with submerged wood is the oviposition behavior of adult females, which preferably oviposit their eggs on moist emergent or submerged parts of woody debris with a structured surface. The eggs are commonly deposited in cracks and crevices using the elongated ovipositor. Ovipositor morphology and various sensilla on the tip and alo...
متن کاملAntennal sensilla of some forensically important flies in families Calliphoridae, Sarcophagidae and Muscidae.
Antennal sensilla of some forensically important fly species in the families Calliphoridae (Chrysomya megacephala, Chrysomya rufifacies, Chrysomya nigripes and Lucilia cuprina), Sarcophagidae (Parasarcophaga dux) and Muscidae (Musca domestica) were studied using scanning electron microscopy. Five types of sensilla were observed: trichoid, basiconic, coeloconic, styloconic and sensory pit. Only ...
متن کاملElectrophysiology of Scorpion Peg Sensilla
We describe a modification of an existing tip-recording technique for electrophysiologically investigating short, peg-like sensory sensilla. On the mid-ventral surface of all scorpions are two appendages called pectines, which have dense fields of mechano- and chemosensory peg sensilla. One method for assessing chemoresponsiveness of these sensilla uses a tungsten electrode for extracellularly ...
متن کاملTwo Olfactory Pathways to Detect Aldehydes on Locust Mouthpart
Sensing chemical cues is crucial for insects through their olfactory systems to adapt the environments. The receptors employed in insect olfactory system belong to the Odorant Receptor (ORs) and Ionotropic Receptor (IRs) families. In general, ORs and IRs are present in distinct olfactory sensory neurons and function independently. Here, we present evidence that in locust, the abundant host plan...
